Saturday, April 16 / 1:30 pm or Tuesday, April 19 / 1:30 pm
Session will last 60 to 90 minutes ~ I want to make sure students have a good understanding of how to sketch various wading birds. Adding color is the icing on the cake!

Learn Quick Field Sketching Techniques!
In this combination zoom and plein air workshop, you’ll learn sketching and painting techniques to capture the lowcountry’s favorite wading birds. The Cypress Wetland Loop in Port Royal has a fabulous rookery that is teaming with great and snowy egrets, and little blue, green, tricolored, and black crested night herons. We may also see white ibis, anhingas, hooded mergansers, moorhens and mallards. That puts a big smile on my face!
Techniques we’ll study for the Field Trip to Cypress Wetland Loop:
• Wading bird sketching
• Pencil / pen with watercolor
• Direct watercolor sketching
• Bonus: Sketching with Pentel Pocket Brush Pen
Zoom Demo / Sketch & Paint Along Class
A Zoom sketching and watercolor demo / paint along is included with this this plein air class. There will be two offerings – choose which time will work best and email me your choice:
Saturday, April 16 at 1:30 pm EST or Tuesday, April 19th at 1:30 pm EST
The demo / sketch & paint along will last 45 to 60 minutes – possibly even 90 minutes ~ I want to make sure students have a good understanding of how to sketch various wading birds. Adding color is icing on the cake.
If you are new to zoom, please be sure to download zoom on your desktop, laptop or tablet prior to class. Become familiar with how to unmute yourself and enter with video. I will have everyone muted to begin with. Zoom controls are in different places depending on what device you are using. Click here for Zoom instructions. I found them very helpful : )
You will receive an email with an invitation to join the zoom class the day before it’s scheduled.
