Welcome to my website, blog and studio shop!
I am here to help you start and keep your own illustrated art and nature journals. Explore the South Carolina Lowcountry with me. Learn art techniques to capture what speaks to you ~ be it nature or the everyday.
I must have done some tech items correctly that you’ve found your way from my former blog South Carolina Lowcountry Nature Journaling & Art to my new website! I invite you to check out my new online digs.
Enjoy a peek at a handmade accordion fold journal that I made and used to capture the path to the beach. A concertina format journal lends itself well to capture a walk and the treasures found along the way.
Watch for new offerings in 2024! Online classes are in the works. Live workshops are being added all the time. Be sure to sign up for my Newsletter emails by clicking the ‘Sign Up Here’ button above.
What will keeping a sketchbook journal do for your art practice?
Working often in a sketchbook, especially taking advantage of little snippets of time, helps you keep your ‘hand’ ~ Eye / hand coordination continues to grow, as does your experience working with watercolors, various brushes and paper. You become a confident sketcher, design skills grow and best of all, when more time comes your way to paint a large piece, you can get right to it. No more reinventing the wheel! Amazingly, keeping the ‘practice of illustrated journaling’ alive and well benefits so much more than art skills. Get ready for peace and calm. Take a ‘Goodness Break’ and sketch!
Want to learn about watercolor and sketching? I would be honored to share my experience with you. Find out about upcoming classes by clicking the Workshops tab at the top of the page.
As we near the mid-year point of 2024 (can you believe it?), here is some perpetual journal news. My journey of keeping weekly entries has really enriched my life. Nature’s patterns are revealed, new discoveries made and changes noted. And, mostly in my own yard! For more reading about my perpetual journal check out my […]
2024 Marks a Special Anniversary! Wowza! If my first journal was a piece of furniture, it would be considered an antique. That’s a weird feeling. My dearly departed urban sketching buddy, Doug Corkern, would always answer the infamous question: “How long did it take you to draw that?” with his age. ie: 81 years and […]
I really enjoyed your workshop and am already putting into practice what I learned. Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing your knowledge and your encouraging and gentle way of teaching. You are a gem, Pam!

“You are very sweet and generous with your time and you clearly exude a love of nature in your art that rubs off on your admiring students in a wonderful way. Your classes this winter and spring have added a richness to my life and I thank you for that!”

“Had such a good time yesterday. Even though I’ve taken a bunch of classes from you over the years- the first in 2011!!- I always hear something new. And having been away from any painting for over a year now it’s a good way to jumpstart myself and start some excitement! Thanks!”
