Vivien Blackburn has posted a Challenge to paint or sketch trees. The sketches must be done from life – my favorite way to sketch and paint 🙂
I’ve gathered together a few that I created. The first is the currently blooming, ever beautiful Loblolly Bay. I cut a sprig from this much loved Loblolly Bay to sketch. You can read the original post here. I don’t always create decorative type for my journal pages on location but, can surely say the following tree images are all plein air studies.
I can’t wait to see everyone’s work. This is such a celebration of trees. I must end with a quote……
The trees are God’s great alphabet:
With them He writes in shining green
Across the world His thoughts serene

Thank you, Lin! I so admire your work. It means a lot to receive your feedback on mine 🙂
I think I've tried to leave comments here before — but I have to say, it's an absolutely GLORIOUS grouping of trees and landscapes …e ach so GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Judy! Ahhhhh! Others have been having a problem posting also. What's going on I wonder? A google thing or an internet server thing? Glad you could finally get thru 🙂 Thanks for continuing to try!
We're about to head north to NY for a few weeks. My hope is to get some Cheraw paintings done while there. Packing today and trying not to forget a thing….. Ha!
Pam,
I have had trouble posting to your blog for the last two weeks. Then today the text box just popped up. I have enjoyed your postings from you residency and can't wait to see your paintings. The tree challenge sounds like fun. I really like that you put your tree drawings all in one post. They are wonderful. Judy
