All are live sketches except for the swallow tailed kite. Yes, even the restaurant dinner – but I did add some color at home : )

Backyard journal pages are created from the comfort of our dinette window. I have a birding scope set up right next to my small sketching station that sits upon our wine rack. Photo of this setup is below the sketchbook pages.

It’s such a thrill to be able to sketch live in the comfort of air conditioning! Sketches are added one at a time. It can take quite a few days to fill a page. Sometimes I have to wait for the bird or critter to strike the same pose I began a few days earlier.
