The Butterfly Habitat at Coastal Discovery Museum

May’s Bluffton SketchCrawl was held at the Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head Island. There’s a lot of eye candy for me on the grounds. This particular visit I had in mind to see how the Butterfly Habitat looked in the mid-morning light. The plan was to sketch the exterior and then go inside and sketch smaller details around the edges of the journal spread. Ha Ha! On to plan B. The Habitat was so lovely in the light that I just had to make it the star of the spread.

I did go inside at the very end of our visit, and came upon the blue/black salvia plant. I fell in love with the amazing
flower’s colors. The journal page had to include a sprig! I now have 3 plants in a flower bed at home : )
