A New Handbuilt Book

This journal was created from a half sheet of Fabriano hot press watercolor paper.  It’s 7.5″ high and 5.5″ wide when closed.  If you count the cover… there are 16 surfaces to paint on! Amazing considering it came from a 15″ x 22″ piece of paper 🙂

Stay tuned for the “How To”…….

  1. I just stumbled across your blog today- I love it! So inspiring! The lowcountry is one of my fave places and now that my parents moved to Charleston I can visit there even more! I love water colors myself and you've inspired me to do some journaling too! I love how you combined lettering with it (another fave thing of mine to do!!) I had also never realized there were such a thing as the Pentel water soluble markers. Thanks so much and keep doing what you do!!

  3. My brother has taken several classes now on old style book binding and typesetting, and we are talking about doing collaboration. I was talking about going to the coast at one the hotels in North Myrtle Beach SC for a month or so after this season is over when it starts to get colder and do a series of oils, and I am going to do some color and graphite pencil sketches for a small journal type project he is working on – one of the other people he knows is starting to make custom paper, it should be a neat project!
